Douglas Walker was born in Brockville, Ontario and is currently living and working in Toronto, Ontario. He received an Associate degree at the Ontario College of Art in 1981. He has exhibited his work in numerous public, non-profit and commercial galleries including the Art Gallery of Ontario, Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art, Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery, Mendel Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. Most notably Douglas’s work has been collected by the Art Gallery of Ontario, Mendel Art Gallery and Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. He has received awards from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. His most recent body of work is influenced by Delft porcelain Chinese Landscapes, botanical illustrations, and architectural drawings. These crackled, blue and white paintings were displayed at Pulse Miami and AAF Contemporary Art Fair in 2005 and were featured in several Canadian national newspapers and magazines. Doug introduced this new series with exhibitions at the Jennifer Kostuik Gallery in Vancouver and the Birch Libralato Gallery in Toronto.
